Air, Water and Land

We put on our "Scientist Caps" and have been doing experiments
learning the differences in Air, Water and Land.

Air
I cannot see air. Is it really there?

The air in the bottle pushes on the water keeping the water from going in the bottle.

The air in the balloon has weight. It is heavy and moves the scale down.

Ice water makes the air cold and the slow moving molecules do not inflate the balloon.

Hot water heats up the air making it rise up and fills the balloon.

If we suck the air out of the cup it sticks to our faces.

Water

We learned that water is more than 70% of the earth's surface, within five oceans.

Sink and Float
What is heavier than water?

We predicted what items are heavier than water and would sink,
or lighter than water and would float.

A plastic spoon floats and a metal spoon sinks.

The rubber bands, marbles and dice sank.

Wooden pattern blocks float and plastic ones sink.

Small crayons and the big crayons both sank.

Land

The seven largest land masses are continents.

Sing the Seven Continents Song:

We can sort things by Bodies of Water or Land forms.

We each picked our favorite Land form or Body of water and made........

Can you guess which land form or body of water it is?
